OH MY WOW!!!!

I can't believe how long it has been since I have made a blog post.  I guess I just needed a hiatus and boy did I take a long one.  I am finally scrapbooking again and had forgotten what it meant to me to be able to create art.  But there has been so much going on with life that I just couldn't create.  But I am happy to say officially that I am back and I hope to continue to create and share.  Here are several layouts that I have created recently....

This is my grand-daughter when she was a baby.  She is three now, wow where has the time gone?

This is my daughter Ariel....she is so photogenic.  This was one of her senior pictures that I took of her.  This was taken at the Cultural Center at the Capital.

And last but not least the is my son Cody and his girlfriend Victoria.  Aren't they a beautiful couple?

I have to share this picture.  When the hurricane hit the east coast last month our power was out for a while.  We received quite a bit of snow, heavy wet snow....so most know what that means:  no power.  Well I wanted something sweet to eat and we had to eat the food in the fridge so that we didn't lose it (although we did lose a lot of it)...but I found the cinnamon roles.  So desperate times call for desperate measures.....

Yes that is my dutch oven on top of the kerosene heater and YES you can cook cinnamon rolls on top of the kerosene heater!  AND they were yummy!

And the next two pictures are why we were without power!!!!

Now I want to post something that I am very proud of.  My son Cody.  Cody is in military school at Mountaineer Challenge Academy.  He is doing so awesome and I am so very proud of him and the man that he has become in this program.  My son left a boy and has become an amazing man, the man I knew that he had the potential of being.

Isn't he a handsome man?  I know that I am partial, but he is a handsome devil.

Oh well, that is all for today, I am sitting in a hotel room that I can pick up my handsome devil for Thanksgiving break tomorrow.  It is time for The Voice ;o)

I will be posting more!

Toodles....

Now on to what I created...

The dress form that I used was from this month's kit at Flying Unicorn.  They have the most amazing kits!

Now to explain how I made this beautiful dress form... I first painted the dress from with gold Dreamcoat paint on both sides.  For the stand I painted it brown and then went over it with Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint.  Once everything was dry I decided on the paper and applied it to the side that was going to be the back of the form.  I used KaiserCraft's Duchess Collection.  I then used some white tulle for the skirt that had dots of gold glitter on it.  I then used some old paper that I had that was cream colored and shiny for the top. I added different laces and some pearls to the waist.  I put an old hat pin that I found in a junk box into the ribbon flower on the waist as well as a butterfly and Prima bling.  On the bodice I used lace and some flowers that I bought in the floral dept at Hobby Lobby.  I found a vintage hat on line that I printed out and colored with Smooch Paint in Turquoise.  Along the neck and shoulder I used Mudd Puddles Sea Glass for a finishing touch.

I hope you enjoyed my dress form. Next up is Sue

I'm sure she has something AMAZING to share with you!

It's Blog Hop Time!!!

WELCOME!  Thank you all for stopping by the Addicted 2 Scrapping Valentine's Day Blog Hop!  Love is definitely in the air and the Design Team is thrilled to share some special projects with you showcasing some of our favorite ideas for Valentine's Day. As you hop along be sure to subscribe/follow to the individual design team members' blogs so you don't miss out on all of the gorgeous projects they are creating...and stop by our Facebook page, Addicted 2 Scrapping, and LIKE us if you haven't already!

Now on to what I created...

This layout is of my husband and I...It isn't very often that I get him to be serious in a picture. He is usually doing something goofy! The print paper is from the Bo Bunny Enchanted collection. The chippie that I used is Dusty Attic and I did the "Drunken Scotch" technique on it. For this technique, cover the chippie with Glossy Accents or Diamond Glaze. Then apply drops of alcohol ink randomly in different colors and watch is spread out over the wet Glossy Accents. Then heat with your heat gun until it starts to bubble. Let bubble for just a little bit and then let it cool. It is a beautiful look that is easy and you will love! I added some red lace to the layout and flowers that I got from Flying Unicorn, some felt hearts and a few pieces of bling to complete.

I hope you enjoyed my layout. Next up is LaDiva. I'm sure she has something AMAZING to share with you!

Well it is a yucky day here in West Virginia.  I am sitting here with one of my sons watching tv, so I thought I would do some posting on the ole blog.

This first layout is of my autistic son Joey.  We were at Virginia Beach on Memorial Day and this was a picture that I was able to catch while we were waiting on some food.  It is very hard to get a picture of him.  I used Flying Unicorn's kit of the month for this layout.  I love the way that this picture is perfect for this paper.  Don't you agree?

Here is another one that I did with the kit.  This is my daughter Ariel with Joey.  She loves him so much.  I just love the colors of this kit.

Okay those are the only two that I am going to post for now, although I do have many more before I am caught up.

Enjoy ;o)

Prima Palette

Look at this months beautiful "sophisticated blend of texture and color" from Prima...

These colors are beautiful and I think I am going to get my hands on to some of these colors today and do some creating.  What about you?  Make sure you head on over to Prima's blog and check out their new newsletter.  It is amazing!!!!!

Enjoy!

A Great chance to win some wonderful flowers!!!

And everyone that knows me, knows that I am a self professed "flower floozy"  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE flowers!  It is very hard for me to do a layout without flowers.  So if you want a chance to win head on over!

These are from Manor House Creations.  You can see their Facebook Page here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Manor-House-Creations/256231617747642?sk=wall ...  So first head on over to Nerrida's blog at http://forthememories-nerridamitchell.com/ and good luck!!!!  (But I have my fingers and toes crossed that I win) hehehehe...

Have a great day and be on the lookout for another layout today.

Toodles...

So far so good...meaning on me sticking to my resolution of posting more on my blog ;o)  It is a beautiful cold day here in West Virginia, we escaped a snow storm...AGAIN.  And I dislike that, well with growing up in southeast Texas, I hate the heat and love the snow ;o)  I keep trying to talk hubby into moving out west, like Colorado or Wyoming, but it hasn't happened yet.  Now if there were a paramedic job that came open in Yellowstone, he would be there in heartbeat!!!!!  He would even probably beat me there.  Oh well enough of my rambling, let's post a layout shall we?

Yep, this is me and my hubby...we were being Goofy...you know like the kids do now days with their lips puckered and the peace sign.  I challenged myself on this layout to NOT use any flowers.  It was very hard for me to do that as I am a self proclaimed flower floozy.  I have to put flowers on all of my layouts that I do.  I do blame a friend of mine for that as well.  I will never forget, Becky Woods talking about Prima flowers and how awesome they were.  I asked what kind of flowers that they were and that I had never seen them.  Well nothing holding her back she HAD to send me some.  And that is when the flower floozy surfaced.

Okay, so I hope you like the layout.  About the only technique I used on it was painting the chipboard letters and then inking them.

See ya soon!

Scrapper's Prayer

Bless me, Scrap Fairy, for I have sinned,
I know that’s hard to believe;
But it’s not my fault, I’m a victim, you see,
Of a sickness, a curse, a disease...

They say that confession is good for the soul,
But I’m not convinced that that’s true.
So I’ll tell you my faults and shortcomings,
And I’ll leave the decision to you.

That scrapbooking thing has got me for sure;
I start with the best of intentions!
Just let me check the CK website--
Oh look! A list of conventions!

Snacking is good to help with my scrappin’
Though I tend to overindulge.
Cakes and cookies and chocolates galore!
My bulges are starting to bulge!

Oh my! How I buy the things I don’t need
Eyelets and ribbons and vellums.
If anyone asks, “I’ve had it for years!“
At least, that’s what I tell ‘em!

A scrap room? What’s that? Stuff’s all over the house
I suffer from *CHAOS,* you know,
No one comes, no one visits, except UPS
He’s my very best friend, that Joe!

Buy now! It’s on sale! They won’t have it again!
The gadgets, the papers, the glues
Look at the money that I can save!
How can I possibly lose???

Organization is an area where I am certainly lacking
I need help with that, others say
But how can I do it? I‘ve got things to do!
How can I waste a whole day?

So here I sit amongst all of my clutter
Housekeeping’s a thing of the past
Dusting and vacuuming and tidying up
What’s the point??? It just doesn’t last!

I have too many ideas and not enough time
They say that denial is rough
I have it...I know it....can’t find it....
Oh well....I’ll just buy some more stuff.

I know that they pay me to do a good job
But this 8 to 5 job gets so stressful
I need a vacation...I need to relax...
And then I will be more successful!

I spend time at work doing scrapbooking things
I search for a phrase or a verse
The perfect layout is all that I need
My addiction is more like a curse!

I tell my husband that if I should die
The best thing for him to do
Is to have a garage or a fire sale
And be sure to include all of Y-O-U!

I guess I’m a sinner, so give me my penance
And hurry! Send me on my way!
I’ve a 40% coupon right here in my purse
Oh my gosh....it expires today!

Just a quick little post...

Well I have been the scrap room for two nights now.  I have been creating and I love it.  But I am not going to post a new layout.  I have been so behind on posting layouts that I need to get caught up with the old ones ;o)

I hope that you enjoy!

A New Year's Resolution...

We all make them....you know, New Year's Resolutions.  But do we actually keep up with them?  I for one am guilty of making them and then not following through, or only doing them for a couple of weeks.  I have made only resolution for this year (yeah, right), well one that I am seriously going to try and keep up with that is.  That resolution is to be a blogger and post more of my scrapbooking layouts and projects that I complete.  I also want to do some tutorials.  I do have a lot of layouts that I have done that I have not posted, so I think I will put them on a schedule to post ;o)  Boy, can ya'll smell the smoke?  That smoke is the wheels in my head turning, lol.

OK well let's get it started.  Here is a layout that I completed a while back.  This was one of my daughter's senior pictures that I took in 2009.  Don't laugh, but it was taken at the Wyoming Territorial Prison.  We were on vacation out west, which is where I took her senior pictures.  I loved this picture of her looking into the mirror.

I did quite a few different techniques on this.  I did a LOT of inking and distressing.   I used a Q-tip to "tear" the paper and then I sewed some stitches over the top of it.  I also stamped the bird with Tim Holtz Distress Ink.  I used an assortment of flowers and bling.  On the Mirror Mirror tag I stamped the image and then used stickers to spell out the words.  I then took Rock Candy Crackle Paint and painted the tag.  Once it was dried I then rubbed Tea Dye Distress Ink into the the cracks of the paint.

I hope you enjoy!
